Hi this Jeffree
If you live in Zealandia, New Zealand, this is just let you know that Friday 21 June at precisely 8:50 am is the moment of the Winter Solstice. That is the point at which the South Pole is at its furthest from the sun - due to the Earth’s 23.5 degree tilt. This also creates the longest night and the shortest day of the year.
For anywhere else in the southern hemisphere you can work out your local Winter Solstice time by working off the UTC time of 8.50pm on Thursday 20 June.
Well thats about the science of it, but there’s also another way of understanding the Winter Solstice from a more intuitive point of view.
The Winter Solstice is believed to be a time when the sun goes through a period of renewal, so this makes it a good time for self reflection and recreating ourselves.
The winter solstice is also a time of quiet energy. A time when you can look within yourself and focus on your personal needs and desires. It's a good time let go of the past, and to be the person you really want to be in the now. The Winter Solstice is essentially about your awakening . . . .
